Foreign Gifts and Contracts

Congress requires U.S. colleges and universities to publicly report foreign gifts and contracts to the U.S. Department of Education. This mandate requires higher education Institutions that receive Title IV federal student aid to report, twice each calendar year, foreign gifts and contracts the value of which is $250,000 or more, considered alone or in combination with other gifts or contracts with a foreign source, and to disclose any foreign ownership or control to the U.S. Department of Education.

Mason Reporting Units should assess and, if necessary, strengthen their processes for complying with these reporting requirements. The Foreign Gifts and Contracts Guide provides a list of all Mason Reporting Units, reporting deadlines, and describes the data collection and reporting process.
